Make every part work together.

Verify the sport configuration.

Confirm whether the exact machine is built for baseball, softball or both. If one machine must support both sports, document the required legs, feed chute, settings, ball sizes and changeover steps.

Match the exact ball to the exact machine.

Use only ball types and sizes listed in the current machine documentation. Record whether the setup uses regulation balls, dimpled machine balls, reduced-impact training balls or another approved format.

Keep the practice set consistent. Manufacturer instructions warn that ball type and condition can affect pitch consistency, so damaged, wet or mixed balls may change machine performance.

Treat the feeder as model-specific equipment.

Confirm the feeder model, machine model, baseball or softball configuration, ball capacity, release interval, required adapter and control method. A feeder offered by the same manufacturer may still exclude certain machines or require a specific variant.

Fit operating distance inside the usable lane.

The cage length is not automatically the machine's operating distance. Map the athlete position, machine release point, machine body, operator position, protective screen and remaining access inside the clear training envelope.

Use the machine manufacturer's instructions for setup and test-pitch procedures. The planned lane must allow those procedures without placing the athlete or observers in the target area during adjustment.

Protect the operator, machine and surroundings.

Review the current manual for required protective screens and operator practices. Plan the screen position as part of the operating footprint, not as an accessory added after the machine is placed.

Confirm ball containment behind the athlete and review nearby people and property. Follow all warnings and operating instructions for the selected products.

Verify power, cable routing and machine stability.

Record the required power source and use the current manufacturer guidance for connections and extension cords. Route power away from athlete and operator movement, retrieval paths and standing water.

The machine must sit on a stable, level surface and remain aligned during use. Include the machine's actual footprint, legs, transport hardware and adjustment access in the site plan.
